Hank (formerly Frank)
We adopted Hank (formerly Frank) a year ago. He filled a hole in our heart that we didn’t even know was there. He is the sweetest, most gentle and smartest boy! He loves to go for walks and on car rides. We celebrated his “gotcha day” with special treats and lots of snuggles. We are forever grateful we were able to save him and love him!

Vin Diesel (formerly Fezco)
We are so happy to welcome Vin Diesel (all of our fury family members have two names. but we call him Diesel) into our family!! Sadie Blue (our Blue Lacy) loves her new brother and can’t wait to run and play in the yard together (right after he’s finished with his heartworm meds). King Kobe (our cat) is still getting used to him but enjoys giving kisses before he runs to play. Diesel is a perfect gentleman with lots of love (and drool) to give and he is a perfect fit for our family. We love him!

Paddy
I saw a photo of Paddy on the website adoptapet.com & immediately fell in love with him. I decided to make the long drive from Tomball to Victoria to see if we could include him in our pack.
I learned that not only was Paddy returned to the shelter, but he was returned in poor shape. Both of his back legs were broken. The shelter took up a collection & surgery was performed. Then, he spent over a year recovering at the home of one of the shelter’s employees.
I adopted Paddy & he has been a blessing to my life & my husband’s. He is the most faithful & loving dog I have ever known. He is always at my side.
It feels like he senses my moods & is always there to comfort me. When I pet him, he looks back at me as if to say, “thank you for your kindness”.
I encourage everyone to adopt a shelter dog & give these animals a loving home.
Gilda Radner said “Dogs are a role model for being alive”. I believe this is true
Carol Peterson

Nate Dogg (formerly Keith)
Nate Dogg (formerly Keith) was adopted on January 28th, 2022 by the Canchola Family. He loves cuddles, collecting sticks in the yard, stuffed animals, playing fetch, and running outdoors. He is very friendly, kind and rarely barks. Nate has brought much happiness to our family. He is our son, Uriah’s best friend, they have the quintessential “boy-and-his dog” relationship! We are so grateful for him coming into our lives this year!

Ebony
I adopted Ebony just a couple of days ago. She is the sweetest baby and she seems to love it here. So happy that this mama has found her forever home.
Ashlyn Miller

Vivian
We were looking for a calm and loving fur baby and I am glad we found her. Vivian loves to cuddle and with us and is very well mannered. She knows how to sit and still learning on shaking your hand! My favorite thing about her is that she will not go to bed unless I do, and she keeps me company when im am cooking! ♥♥♥ My husband’s favorite thing about her is their walks to the park that they take twice a day♥♥♥
Daniela and Ruben Heysquierdo

Jackson
Jackson is our foster failure and we couldn’t be happier with him. Thank you DOCPAC!
Amber Diehl

Tessa
Tessa was a foster fail. I fell in love with her the moment I held her!! I just knew she would make a great addition to our little family. She has flourished in so many ways and we couldn’t be happier! She’s so spoiled and is loving her life!
Stephanie Zimmerman

Tubbs
After having to put our 12 year old girl down due to cancer, I was distraught. 2 days prior to losing her, I decided I needed to go to the shelter and watch the cats play. None of the cats I met struck my fancy, but on my way out, I spotted Tubbs. He was by himself in one of the boxes on the wall and the second I petted him, his motor started running and I knew he was meant to be mine. Once we got home, he hid for about 30 minutes and then immediately went into acting like he’d lived his whole life here. He and I bonded instantly and I could not have asked for a better cat to help my heart heal. He is one amazing boy! ♥
Kristen

Duke (formerly Kareem)
Duke is very happy in his new forever home, living his best life!
David & Larissa Hairell

Zory

Artemis
Artemis has found her furever home! It took a few weeks for her to warm up to our other cat Dream, but now they play and chase each other all over the house. She loves to be petted and will force you to pay attention to her even if you don’t want to. We love her!!
Wendy Barefield

Wayland
I was looking for a friend and man did i find one! Wayland is one of a kind! I’m happy to say he is my fur baby! He gets along with all of my other animals… except for neighborhood squirrels. ?
Megan

Charlie (formerly Lane)
We adopted Charlie in September 2015. He was approximately 1 1/2 years old. He is definitely a mama’s boy, but loves everyone. I couldn’t have found a better fur baby if I had ordered every little detail. He is truly a joy to the whole family.
Patricia Neill

Sophie
Loves her new brother.
Cora King

Noel
I adopted Noel in February 2021 and I am SO glad that I did. He has been the most wonderful addition to the family! I kept his original name because it reminded me of the Christmas song, “The First Noel.” This sweet little guy adjusted to his new home so quickly! He LOVES to play outside, so we go out every day so he can have his outdoor fun. He loves to watch birds, chase bugs, climb trees, and play in the bushes, but sometimes he’s just as happy laying by my feet while we enjoy nature together. Then we go inside and he plays with his favorite toy, his squeaky rat! He also loves treats, especially the little yogurt/mousse treats (the ones made for cats, of course). When I bring out a package with his special kitty yogurt, he will put his paws on my lap and pull at my hand until I give him the treat. It’s the CUTEST thing ever. He’s not a huge lap kitty yet because he loves to move around so much, but sometimes after a long day of playing, he loves to snuggle on my lap and watch videos with me or watch me play computer games! Thank you so much to the staff at Dorothy O’Connor for blessing me with my sweet fur baby.
Brooke

Frannie (formerly Scarlett)
We got Frannie from y’all in 2017, her name was Scarlett and she is doing very good.
Shane and Courtney Orsak

Ava
Ava loves her new home, and we love having her in it. She is such a well-mannered dog. Thank you!
Michael and Becky

Dos (formerly Mercedes)
We adopted Dos in January 2021. My son’s mother and stepfather surrendered her and 6 of her puppies to the pound in Port Lavaca. The Humane Society of Port Lavaca rescued her, and her puppies and she was sent to the Dorothy O’Connor Pet Adoption Center. Fortunately, I was able to locate Dos in Victoria and my wife and I drove down to adopted her. We are so happy to have her back in our family and my son loves spending time with her on his weekend visits. Thank you again for allowing us to adopt her. She brightens our days/nights when she climbs into bed for the evening. ❤??
Charles Castill

Apollo
We have never had a cat and decided to adopt from Dorothy O’Connor. We saw the cats in the playroom and fell in love with Apollo. He was 11 months when we adopted him. He is so calm and loves to play fetch with hair ties. He has never hissed or scratched. Unlike most cats he has almost no agility and doesn’t jump on things but he makes up for it in friendliness. He spends his days relaxing in his sugar skull cat house.
Rebecca Rosse

Glitter
I have had Glitter since Sept. 8th 2011. It’s now almost 2021 and I love her more each day. She has gone to work with me every day at the University of Missouri’s Veterinary Teaching hospital. I can’t image a world or day without her. I’m so glad and blessed she’s been in my life almost 10 years now.
Megan Salmon

Atlanta
We had recently lost a puppy who we loved dearly and we wanted someone to fill in the spot. When we saw Atlanta we instantly fell in love with his smile and cute overbite. Since then we haven’t had a dull moment with the goof ball.
Janely Guerrero

Julia
Going into high school was stressful and I decided I needed a new friend plus I’ve always loved cat’s and that’s when I decided to save up with my boyfriend and after a few weeks I had enough money to get Julia. The first day she was a bit shy but now she basically owns my room. She loves to look outside, take walks outside, Chase me around the house and she loves to be vocal. She follows me around and will meow when she’s wants to be pet or just wants to chat. She’s spoiled to no end and she’s a bit sassy and lazy. I love her and she deserve the world now.
Jasmine Ramirez

Chase
Back in March we adopted our Chase. We almost thought we lost him prior to that because he had been adopted already when we first found him. To my amazement when I called one day to see if there had been a mistake since his picture was back on the site, I found out he had come back. I fell in love with this handsome fella the moment I laid eyes on him so I was overjoyed to find out I had another chance. We got him immediately and he has been a joy to my family ever since. He and I do everything together and he is my constant companion and shadow.
Richard Conrad

Eukie Dukie (formerly Trump)
We were looking for a new family member in May 2013 and found ‘Trump’ on the website late one night. We decided to go meet him that next day. When we arrived at DOC we asked about him and were taken to his kennel. He had 2 other kennel makes and when the door was opened he was the only one who ran straight into my lap!! It was love at first site and we took him home that same day.
Now Eukie is 7 years old and living his best life. How days include finding maximum comfort on the sofa and bed in the house. He also loves his kitties siblings and keeps everyone in line. Mom is a veterinary technician so Eukie goes to the hospital frequently for all his services and loves making new friends when he goes.
Our life would not be complete without him so thank you to Dorothy O’Connor for bringing him into our life!!! Here is Eukie when he first got him and now.
PS – he’s gained some weight and is now on a metabolic diet for it?
Mandi Presley

Emrys (formerly Diamond)
I adopted Emrys on January 16, 2017. Her name at the shelter was Diamond. When I first got her she was very scared of men, but was very happy and calm. She’s gotten over most of her fears with love and time; she now just howls if a big guy she doesn’t know is in the house. She also now shares a big backyard and house with a Pyrenees mix named Winston, and loves going hiking with me. She is so calm and sweet and happy to be around any people! I’m so glad I found her! Almost 3 years have gone by, and to many years to come!
Miriamele Parker

Zippy
3 years I was scanning your website and saw this little white pup and he caught my eye. I called every day to make sure he was still available and just like that I adopted him. Although we truly are blessed because he ADOPTED us. We couldn’t imagine our life without our Zippy. Thank you all for what y’all do!!!
Marti Hernandez

Mama Lola (formerly Polly)
Adopted her almost a year ago and she was 6 months old. Took us 15 minutes just to catch her, she was so scared, but now she is so much a part of the family and loves her new brother Ernie. So blessed to have her in my life. She puts a smile on my face everyday!! And loves trying to catch fish and mice on the computer.
Laurie O’Connor

John and Natalie Boek

Butcher (formerly Chili)
When I was a little girl my mom got me a puppy and he was my everything. After 6 years he got hit by a car and passed away. I was devastated. Two months after it happened I got a phone call from my dad saying he was at the shelter and to pick out anyone I wanted. I immediately looked on the website and found ‘chili’. My dad brought him home and I knew he was going to be mine. I guess he felt the same because 4 years later he’s still with me and prefers me over everyone. So glad I got my Butcher.
McKenzie McLennan

Princess (formerly Velvet)
Celebrating Princess birthday today!

Colby Jack
I would like to take this time to share our story, 6 months ago, on May 22, my wife Natalie and I opened our hearts up to adopting a little orange and white tabby cat named Colby Jack. It has been the most amazing time of our lives. From the early morning meows, lazy cat naps on the weekend to the late night games of hide and seek the last 6 months have been unbelievable. From one day to the next, learning from each other growing and spending every min of every day together it’s been truly amazing. Day to day I love him even more, I never could have imagined how my life would change just by opening our hearts and home to a small, shy, loving cat named Colby Jack, I remember laying in bed that night my wife looking at his picture both of us so excited, the drive out that morning was incredible, a hot sunny day to welcome us, as your staff was so great and ready to help, all I wanted in this moment was to pick him up and take him to his new home and thanks to everyone there that’s our story to be continued.
John and Natalie Boek

Ming
I had moved into the Victoria area a year and a half ago, and was looking for a new family member to make it feel more like home. I had searched for a couple months until I saw her picture on the site and knew I had to see if she’d be a good fit. She warmed right up and quickly became the queen of the house. Flash forward a year and she has accepted, and even takes care of, a stray kitten we brought into the home we named Ember.
Conrad

Fezzik (formerly Walter)
I adopted Fezzik in June with my boyfriend and he was a frightened little 6 month old. He was scared of everything. We have since moved to Houston and he has really come out of his shell. He has a number of humans he loves to visit with in the complex, as well as numerous dog friends in the complex and the dog park we go to. He loves car rides, playing, and cuddles now. He still chews through everything and is unsure of things sometimes but He is getting to be more outgoing all the time.
Christina Breadon

Sadie (formerly Sassy)
We adopted Sadie almost a year ago and she has fit well into our family. She adjusted well with a toddler and is one of the most loving cats. She loves belly rubs and any soft place to close her eyes.
Ashton Walker

Harley (formerly Kimmi)
We adopted Harley last Friday, September 1, 2018. After a couple of days of adjusting, she has fit right in. We had two of our grandchildren, 2 & 5 yrs, without any hesitation she began playing with them and loving on them. Harley has a great temperament, has had some training, doesn’t bark and is already crate trained. We can’t figure out how two different families didn’t want to find a way to keep her. We are blessed and happy they didn’t. She is a very smart and special dog! Thank you for taking such good care of her. She has found her home and we have found a special companion.
Bill & Laura Crandall

Indy (formerly Cupcake)
Indy was adopted last year at the end of August (she was named Cupcake at the shelter). We were looking for a pal for our dog and immediately drawn to her sweet personality! She was shy and unsure at first (as was her new fur sister!), but has since settled right in and really begun to show her adorable personality and even her listening skills!! Thanks for making this possible and for all you do for pets in our community.
Kelly

Rio
I can’t begin to tell you how much happiness Rio has brought to our home. We adopted him in February of this year and he has been the leader of the pack. He never meets a stranger and loves playing with our other pets. Thank you so much for calling me Jolene and letting me know he was coming up for adoption. I truly believe it was meant to be.
Cathy

Queenie
I’m so happy that this beauty has become part of the family. She fits in perfect. My other dog and her became very close. She goes just about everywhere with me besides when I go to work. But then someone is always around her and if not she has other dogs to keep her company. I made the best decision the day I rescued her and my first rescue Yogi. They are my everything. Thanks to Dorothy O’Connor for making this successful adoption happen
Ashley

Oakley (formerly Spring)
I adopted Oakley from Dorothy O’Connor in June 2017. From the beginning she was an adventure. She loves the outdoors, swimming, and cuddles. She isn’t a morning dog at all she would probably stay in bed all day if I let her. I didn’t realize how much she would change my life. She’s shown me so much love in so many ways and I was blessed to have the opportunity to adopt her. She thinks she’s a puppy at heart and sometimes forgets how big she actually is, but it’s all a part of her personality. I cannot thank Dorothy O’Connor enough for blessing me with this sweet baby girl.
Katelyn Sexton

Ray
We were looking for a gentle dog for senior couple that would also alert when strangers approached. Ray is working out great! He barks when cars come up the drive and is very gentle with other older dog and cat in home. Such a good dog! Thank you to everyone at Dorothy O’Connor Pet Adoption that helped us make the perfect match!
Ricky Schultz

Sancho Panza (formerly Rob)
While they told us Sancho Panza was a smart dog, it seemingly seems he has the brain the size of a walnut. Nevertheless, my husband and I have had non-stop laughs every day in his company. We adopted him as an adult dog and recommend anyone who doesn’t want to deal with puppyhood to do the same (seriously no chewing or potty training!). Thank you, Dorothy, for all the joy you have brought us.
Vida Mikalcius

Tessa (formerly Dina)
I went to the Dorothy O’Connor Adoption Center to adopt a cat. There was so many sweet loving personalities but I fell in love with Tessa – The Tuxedo Cat. She is so entertaining and loving. I can’t imagine how I got along without her! She is not really much into posing for pictures but I’m sure she will come around : )
Susan Crump

Brownie and Missy (formerly Adelyn)
We came into the shelter looking for “one dog only!!”, as my grandma would say. There were tons of dogs that I loved, and I had my heart set on a big dog, but when she asked if I wanted to meet Brownie, it was love at first sight. He crawled into my lap and licked my face, Missy looked up at my grandma just begging for a home, and turns out they got one!! Both of them have been with us since!!
Now, after I believe 5 or 6 months, they get free reign of the house. Missy loves nothing more than chasing our cats and sitting in our laps after a run, but Brownie can’t get enough of belly scratches and warm blankets! They’ve both really come out of their shells since we’ve gotten them, and we love them more than anything!
Leigha Tucker

Elliot (formerly Sal)
We adopted Elliot (formerly Sal) three days ago. There was some concern about his getting along with his five feline brothers and sister but we are very happy report that there is no problem at all. From the first day he just sniffed them and went on. He has adapted to the household quickly, he already goes the backdoor to be let out, he jumps up in laps to get snuggles, and is super smart at finding his toys and learning what he can and cannot chew ?
Debra Farrior

Crickett (formerly Rambo)
I adopted Crickett when he was just 5 months old, it was my birthday present for my 14th birthday and 8 years later he is still the best dog I could have ever wanted! He loves to snuggle, chew on bones, and chase squirrels! Crickett is the gentlest dog, and has truly been a blessing to not only me but my whole family. He is the most spoiled dog there is but he deserves it <3
Rachel Murdock

Lola (formerly Scrappy)
I adopted Lola when she was 7 months old. She is now 3 years old and we are completely attached to each other! She is so full of love and never leaves my side. She loves eating, sleeping, and giving kisses! She means the world to me and I am blessed to have her. Thank you Dorothy H. O’Connor!
Alejandra

Chewbacca (formerly Gavin)
Chewbacca is a sweet 1 year boy. Great fit for our family. He couldn’t have arrived at better moment in our lives! He loves to lay with the family and watch movies. Chewbacca is train to sit and dance. He enjoys long walks and especially loves his stuffed toys! He completes our family.
Polly

Milo (formerly Comet)
Comet, now Milo, is adjusting well and has found every place in the house to hide. He loves sleeping in his bed under my bed all day, but at night he runs the house, gets in bed with me, and just entertains himself. He’s not a fan of his doggy roommate yet, but all good things take time.
Terra Cook

Onyx (formerly Pricilla)
“I am the black Pom on the right.when I was left at the center two years ago my name was Pricilla. My name now is Onyx. The Pom on the left is my sister, Diamond. I was given to the center because my owner couldn’t house train me and could not handle my hyperactivity. When I was left there was a young man volunteering at the center who immediately called his grandmother in San Antonio. She adopted me, sight unseen, over the phone. Two days later her grandson, who is now a Texas State Trooper, picked me up and took me to meet my new sister,Diamond. I was house trained in three days but I still am hyper. It is just my nature. My forever mother was shocked when she looked at my shot records, DIAMOND AND I WERE BORN ON THE SAME DAY, 3/31/2012. I was destined to live here. Oh, yeah, I also have a half-sister, a 15 year-old Siamese cat, Bootsie. She has seniority. I was so lucky to have been adopted the same day I came in and I was healthy. Diamond, Bootsie and myself asked our mother to take money out of our Animal Fund and pay for Lillie and Petrie to get their heartworm treatment so they can find a forever home. Thanks for your work.”
Onyx, Diamond and Bootsie

Mao (formerly Alanis)
Two years ago this month we adopted Alanis…we renamed her Mao. She has been such an amazing member of our family and we love her so much. She loves to give kisses as you can see in this picture and she’s a snuggler. She’s happiest when she’s tucked in next to her person, our daughter Sierra. She now has a sibling, a Siamese Manx named Bleu. She is a blessing to our family and we just wanted to update you on the great life that she has!! Thanks for what you do.
The DuValls

Bentley (formerly Pip)
Update on Pip! Pip’s new name is Bentley! He’s doing great and he is very spoiled! Can’t you tell! We love him so much! He loves stuffed animals and treats! He‘s been doing a great job of going potty outside! Anyone looking for a new pet please consider adoption. This has been a great experience! Yes adoption costs a fee, but you don’t have to worry about shots- they are all covered. The animal is spayed or neutered and is microchipped! Also, some vets in Victoria let you have the 1st vet check for free within 2 weeks of adoption. Bentley had his 1st vet checkup and he’s all good! Then we took him to his favorite place….Petsmart to get goodies! Thank you Dorothy O’Connor Pet Adoption for making this experience so wonderful! We love our Bentley!! I think I’m pretty sure he loves us too!!
The Buenger Family

Abbie
We adopted Abbie about a year ago, she actually came into the clinic for a rabies vaccination – well let’s just say she never made it back on the DOCPAC van – I instantly fell in love with this sweet girl – she came home and it was like she was here her entire life- we just love her- she loves my girls and even got to help at DOCPAC Camp K9!!!!
Jenna Janak

I adopted Ozzie not too long ago and it was the best decision of my life. Ozzie is so happy with his home and he has made me complete, I have had depression and he has made my life so much more bright! I love him with all my heart! Thank you Dorothy O’Connor for giving me the greatest little man ever.
Kayla Garcia

Rusty
I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you to all of the wonderful staff at the center. We came in on February 3rd and picked up our newest family member, Rusty. Everyone was so helpful and very patient with us as we figured out which puppy would be best for us. Rusty has been PERFECT for us. He came to a very crazy home with 3 very active kids and he fits in just great! I love to see how my children play and interact with him and how happy they are together. Thank you to everyone that loved and cared for him before we were able to bring him home. All of you are truly amazing. Thank you again!
Sincerely,
Jamie Alvarado & family

Chandler
One summer I had decided to attend K-9 camp to see what shelter dogs were like. Ms. Sally had gathered us all and pointed at a kennel with a darknose brown and white terrier which was the biggest dog there that year, and said “I bet none of you would like to be paired up with that dog ” because bigger dogs with lots of energy are harder to control and train. But I raised my hand and said I will. The whole class then did walking and sitting exercises. Then once the week was over and we went around the course was over I was almost in tears. Knowing that this was the last time I’d see him but I never got over it then about a week later he was mine. Thank you docpac!
Jaxon

Penny Love
I wanted to share with you all our one year anniversary with Penny Love (a.k.a. Dorie).
Penny turned one in April and yesterday, July 16th, was one year with our family. She is such a delightful dog and everyone who meets her absolutely adore her. Not only does she have a personality and is very pretty, she is also very smart. Her favorite activity, anytime of the year if she can get by with it, is playing in the sprinkler. I had to watch her in the winter beg with those soulful eyes for me to turn the hose on which on occasion I would give in to her. She also has her own sprinkler that she can operate herself.
Penny plays in the hay fields in the front and back of our home. She loves going for walks and chasing the birds (she hasn’t caught one to my knowledge but that hasn’t taken the fun out of it!). Just like as a puppy, she still loves her toys with squeakers in them. We have numerous Frisbees and I had to buy a ball thrower because my arm strength wasn’t enough to keep her active.
She sits beside me at the pool. Walks beside me when I need her to and simply loves me. We have great fun together. Thank you so much for helping bring us together. I am including a picture of her. As you can tell, she is “tiger striped” and beautiful.
Sincerely,
Michele Stuhrenberg

Hank
Last year 2013 we had lost our sweet Coco due to illness we waited a few months and start looking on the web page to see if we could find someone to adopt. The day I saw McGruff renamed Hank I left work early and went to the adoption center hoping no one had adopted him and he was there just as sweet as could be. Hank has been the best addition to our family he is just so sweet and loving. He is king of our home.
Garcia/Martinez Family

Lucy and Raylene
Our family fell in love with Lucy and Raylene when we first saw them on the website, and we had no clue that we were going to take these sweet puppies home with us a few months later. Our family enjoys spending time and playing with them. We are so thankful to have Lucy and Raylene.
The Lane Family

Ellie
I adopted Ellie near the end of November of last year. She was a little scared but willing to be loved. She is a God send, just like all the other pets God has sent to me. She is my best friend and is with me all the time outside. No matter the time of day, if something is to be done outside with me. Rain, cold, cloudy, thundering, she is there. Truly a blessing.

Melba
Just want you to know how very much I love Melba. She is so precious and I love her very much. She is so well behaved. I have had many dogs in my lifetime but never one that is so well behaved. Just wanted to let you know how much she means to me. She has a wonderful home here with me.
My love to all,
Gladys (Melba’s Mother)

Geoffrey
How time flies. We have had Geoffrey (aka Wyatt) for over two years and we could not imagine having a happier and adjusted dog. We had a 17 year old dachshund that was in failing health and even though he was the new one in the family, Geoffrey treated him with the love and respect he deserved until his final day. He is a joy to our family and enjoys being in the middle of everything we do, including his place in our king sized bed. I don’t care how bad our day has been, Geoffrey always puts a smile on our face and makes us feel loved once we walk in the door. Thank you DOCPAC for providing the service you do and bringing joy to pets and families, alike.

Lily & Remi
lily and remi sucess storyA year ago we adopted Lily (formerly Cashmere) from Dorothy O’Connor. She is a very loving and playful cat with a personality like none other! We enjoy her dearly. In May, we decided to foster for a young puppy named Pogo (now Remi). He won us over with his personality and intelligence fast. We cared for him so much we decide to keep him. Although Lily hated him at first they are now great friends! We couldn’t have asked for a better pair of animals and are so happy we adopted both!
Vanessa

Donald/Sherlock
My dog had died a week ago and I was sad and lonley. That next week I went to Dorothy O’Connor Camp K9. The dog I wanted to adopt and train had heartworms so the dog next was cute so I trained him for a day and my grandma met him and my dad said it was ok to adopt him so that next day we did. He has made new friends. We all love him and Mrs. Sally is the best she is the nicest person ever and thanks to everyone who helped us meet.
Emily

Tilly
We adopted her 2 weeks ago, best day of my life! She is soooo sweet! Loves to have her tummy rubbed! She is a 3 year old black terrier mix with some white on her paws. I had heard she had been in the shelter for over a year and I felt so sorry for her. But thankfully my family fell in love with her right away and we adopted her a week later. She also loves to take walks outside. Whenever I just show her the leash, she automatically knows it time to go outside! Best decision we ever made!
Henry Holley

Spike
I was told Spike was at the shelter for about 2 1/2 years and had gone threw 2 other homes before me, due to him being so skiddish he was always brought back. From the moment I pick him up though he was and is my best friend, it’s as though he knew I wasn’t going to give up on him. I couldn’t imagine my home with out him in it. <3

Jo-jo (formerly Whiz)
(Whiz) Jo-jo loves when we give him his treats. We love Jo-jo he is so perfect for our family. Thanks for taking very good care of him while in the shelter. We took him to a vet visit and the doctor said he’s perfectly healthy. We hope to one day soon get another like him.
Thank you from the Zamora family!

Pinto Beans
Hello! My Name is Pinto Beans! (Originally just Pinto until my mommy added the Beans!) I just wanted to give everyone at the shelter an update on my new life. I live with Mommy, Daddy, and Oscar Mayer (my older brother who is a weiner dog, Mom calls us Beans & Weiners) I am so happy at my new home and I get LOTS OF LOVE! My mommy spoils me rotten with lots of treats and sweet snuggles. I wake up in the morning and play fight with my brother all day long. Usually we fight over chew chips, sometimes I win and sometimes he does. I LOVE MY CHEW CHIPS!! My favorite thing to do is go for a ride, my mommy calls me her “Co-Pilot”, she thinks I do a great job! I am so thankful that I had Dorothy H. O’Connor take care of me until my mommy came to get me. I am a very lucky boy. Thanks for saving my life! I often think about my Brother Sprout. Where are you Sprout? I miss you…Sincerely, Pinto Beans

Izzy (formerly Helga)
We love Izzy so much! She is such a joy to our family and so lovable. I adopted her in Feb. 2013 and the first vet. appointment, she weighed 13 lbs. I took her back for her final shots last week, she is now 23 lbs. She is doing great! Thanks you all for taking such good care of the pets while in your care.
Debbie

Snickers
This is ” SNICKERS”. We adopted him back in 2010. Although he is very hyper and still somewhat destructive when he wants to be, he is still our loveable puppy. He has been a great addition to our family, and we love his spunky attitude. He has learned to love cats, speak, shake, and on occasion jump the fence…lol. He has brought us a lot of memories and still has more to come. Thanks Dorothy O’Connor Pet Adoption Center for helping him be part of our family.
Annette

Riney
Just wanted to update you on Riney. We adopted him in May and it didn’t take him long to endear himself to us! He is a sweetheart ! He loves to give and receive hugs! And so smart! (a little bit of a smart aleck too!)… We also took home Jubilee who is also doing well… When she remembers she isn’t a Great Dane!!! Thank you DOCPAC for these fur family members! They have made our family complete!
Linda

Henry
Henry, aka Slater, is doing well in his new home. I adopted him back in August and since then he’s grown into quite the handsome young man as you can see. He has livened up the house. He spends his days lounging, sleeping and playing with his older “sister” Pandora who is also an adopted cat from DOCPAC. Henry and Pandora has gone from being “coastal” cats to “Hill Country” cats. I love him dearly.
Rachel

Roxy and Cooper

Sara Charbula

Lacey
We adopted Maple (new name Lacey) back in May and we couldn’t be happier! She is the perfect addition to our family and she is just so cute. We couldn’t imagine life without her now! She is so spoiled rotten and very well trained. We can’t thank you enough DOCPAC, she is the best dog we’ve ever owned!
Jenna Orzelek

Bitsy (formerly Daphne)
I’m enjoying little Daphne so much. She has become Bitsy because she is so small. She spent the majority of today on my lap. My older doxy, Benji, thinks she belongs to him! He makes sure she knows where everything is located here at the house. When he goes outside to potty she follows but doesn’t like to go into the grass much. She’ll get it soon though because she is very smart. She took to her little bed just fine and wanted covered before the lights were out. Just a real delightful little dog to have! I’m so glad I got her.
Janie Zeplin

Bella (formerly Jewel)
My husband and I were looking to add to our little family, and found Bella (or Jewel at the time) on the website. My heart melted for her and I went the next weekend to pick her up. She is such a blessing to us, and we love her dearly. She has adjusted well to her new home, and is such a sweet loving dog. Attached is a family picture taken by Megan Hodge Photography to celebrate our new addition and our new home!

Manuel “Manny-Manuel”
The day I went to the pet adoption center I was looking for a small dog that was a female. I didn’t want a male. I was looking at the small dogs then I saw Manny, at first I thought he was a girl.. haha but I was so sad that he turned out being a boy.. but there was something about him that I loved. I decided to hold him. and he immediately wrapped it neck around mine as if he were holding onto me, or hugging me. It melted my heart and I decided that I wanted him. He has been the most amazing dog I have ever had. He makes me so happy, and he has so much personality. We have an amazing connection. I wouldn’t want any other dog. He changed my life!
Samantha

Loki (formerly Tuxedo)
I adopted Tuxedo (now: Loki) in February 2012. He didn’t take to my boyfriend being in the house at first, but after showing our love for him; he has fit into the family very well. He now has a happy life taking cat-naps on our bed and has a loving family that couldn’t be happier to have this big ball of fluff to call our own. Thanks DOCPAC!
Krissy Vincik

Abby (formerly Kisses)
I am so grateful that I was able to bring this pup into my home. I would like to thank DOCPAC and the fosters who took care of Abby until I could adopt her. It has been about 2 months and she has been nothing but fun! She is also growing like a weed she has passed the 30 lb mark with no signs of stopping anytime soon! We are so glad to have her as “our little girl”, and look forward more and more adventures together.
Theresa Wittman

Ruby
We had rescued Ruby at Firestone(Victoria) and after 1 week took her to DOCPAC so she could find a good home. After a couple months went by she had not been adopted and we could not stop thinking about her. So we made needed arrangments for her at home, (temporary out door kennel and play area) untill we could slowly introduce her into our home with 2 very old chi chi’s. She is doing great and quickly became a part of the family. She sleeps indoors now in her crate(door open)at night and comes in several times during the day. Even the chi chi’s have excepted her. We are so glad we didn’t stop thinking of her untill she finally found her home. It was with us all along.
Linda O’Neal

Spottedleaf (TINA)
Hey DOCPAC it’s me “Tina”. I’m happy in my new home and I have a a lot of new friends! My personal favorite is the person who decided to adpot me, Hayden. I also have two other friends; they are dogs and their names are Charlie and Lucy. We all love to cuddle together at night and play all morning. I have my very own castle and I love to play in it with my buddy Charlie. I have adjusted well to everything and have a GREAT life here with my new family. They always keep my food and water bowl full and they feed me treats, I’m glad they know when to stop! I wanted to thank y’all for taking care of me all those months back in the shelter; I really appreciate it! I sometimes miss my old friends and if CHYNA is still there make sure to say “hello” for me!
Hayden

Stitch
I would really like to thank DOCPAC for giving me my baby Sitchy Poo! We have just celebrated Stitch’s 1st Birthday. Everyday with Stitch is an adventure as you can see in the picture he is taking over his brother Rocky’s Bed. He is my best friend and I wouldnt trade him for anything in the world! Thanks again!
Shelby

Izzy B. (Formally MeeMaw)
Hi Meagan and all DOCPAC Staff: It’s me, MeeMaw aka Izzy B. I miss all of you but want you to know I love my new home and I am adjusting well. I get lots of love and attention and seem to always have a lap to lay in. My new home has a doggy door so I can go in and out to the backyard as I please, which I love. At night, I get to sleep in a nice big bed with my Mom. Thank you for all the love and care you gave me; My Mom tells me that she got the best dog ever. Mom says we will come visit you one day soon. Thanks for finding me such a terrific family.

Albert
Today we celebrate our adoption of Albert (aka Drake)… we adopted him after our beloved Stripe kitty passed away… it has taken Albert a while to fully adjust to us (11 months to accept my husband), we love him very much and are glad we got to adopt him… thank you very much DOC for everything you did for us….

Merlin
Merlin was known as “Repo” when we first saw him on the DOCPAC site. When we went to look at him in person, we just beat another family to him. One look into his eyes and we knew he had to come home with us.
Merlin is now a trained service dog for Ramoan. He reminds Ramoan when to take his medications and he will lay against Ramoan’s back to relieve back pain. In addition, he is a well loved member of the family.
This past Thanksgiving he vacationed with us at Walt Disney World. Merlin has made a world of difference in our lives and he is proof that rescue dogs can make wonderful service dogs.
Pam and Ramoan

Maci
I want to thank all of you that work at Dorothy O Connor Pet Adoption. Wow, what an amazing place you have, and your animals are so well takencare of. I was very impressed with your love and kindness towards all your pets. I especially want to thank you for taking care of my little baby, Maci, she just caught my eye, she is just beautiful, and so sweet and cuddly too!! I had been looking for a while for a baby, and when I saw her in person, there was NO question at all that she was the right one.
Of course she is very pampered, she has a special outfit for every occasion, and I made her a necklace with her name on it. I do not know who gave her the name Maci, but it fits her perfectly, and I love it. Thank you again for your love of animals!
Bonnie Washington and Maci

Coby
My friend suggested I go to your website last spring and look at this little Beagle Colby. Next thing I knew he was in the car with me going back to New Braunfels. The best part about Colby is that he is such a help to me when I foster Beagles. He thinks the fosters are just for him. He is a great Beagle and has fit into our home nicely. Sometimes there is just too much energy as he is the second Beagle in the house and a foster makes three. Thanks for the work you do in Victoria.
Sheila Angerer

Pudge
We adopted our Pudge from you on Oct.14,2009. We had to put our beloved Theo to sleep because he had cancer. Our daughters told us we needed to get another cat because we had lots of love to give and Theo wouldn’t want us to be lonely. So we came upon “Elmo” as you called him but we changed his name to Pudge. He has filled our life with lots of love and happiness. He was and still is a very handsome cat. He’s very spoiled and we wouldn’t have it any other way. God bless you all.
Nancy Gomez

Lola
Lola came to us as Bibi at the end of May. She fits into our family perfectly. She’s a little prancing, sweet, cuddly, smart 8 month old now, born on my brothers BDay too! She loves her 3 kitty friends, playin fetch, stealin socks, and hain some of our fruits and veggies. Training class 5 is coming up and I think her trainer Tracy wishes she could keep her. No way!! ? Seems no one can resist her cuteness, and you’ll know when shes around because of all the awwwww’s you hear..
Beth & Liz

Willie
Willie has been with us a little over a month now and already he has made us all fall in love with him. He LOVES to go on car rides, play at the park, lay with us while watching tv. He does everything with us. We are all so happy to feel the warmth of love he has provided to our family. He IS our family.
Darlene

Lester
I have two boys Tylar-9 and Tanner-5 who have always wanted a ‘wiener dog’. Lester came to us very scared, and didn’t really know what toys were. After a few days of constantly being by my side, and even sleeping in my bed and riding in the car with us, he has become a very playful and very loving friend. He has become attached to his loofah wiener dog toy, and takes it everywhere. My boys and I have found a forever friend, and love Lester very much! Wish there was an option to upload more than one picture! One just doesn’t do justice. ?
Amy Veselka

Honey
When we saw “Hazel’s” picture, we knew we had to have her. We have named her Honey and she is a great addition to our family. She is so sweet and loving and loves to play with our other family member, a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix named Cree. She had heartworms, but DOCPAC provided the treatment and she is now heartworm free!
Thanks again DOCPAC, we love her!
Dawn Moccabee-Blow

Norma Jean
We adopt Norma Jean July 6, 2011. We have only had her for a week ( 7-13-11) and already she has capture our hearts and other peoples. On july 9 2011 she was award the cutest dog. I also got very many completes on how well behave she was. She is such a playful and awesome dog. She is so good with the kids. Since we lost our family dog a almost a year ago, she has made our family feel complete again!!
Thank you to everyone at Dorthy O’Connor!!
Angela Garza

Mushu
We adopted Chester in Dec. 2010 and have re named him mushu, because of the funny way he hunshes his back and hops around the house. He has turned into a 14 # ball of fun and cuddles, but beware when he plays he bites. He is a character and enterains himself and us daily. I am so glad he has been a perfect fit into our family.
Heather Ritter

Bailey aka “Glisten”
We adopted Bailey a few weeks ago and could not be happier! She and our resident dog are just best of friends!! She’s doing great on potty training and learning to walk on the leash. She has caught on quickly with how to use the doggy door to the backyard. She is so smart! She fits right in with us and we just love her energy!!
We had such a great experience at DOCPAC, the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. It was definitely worth the drive to Victoria (from Katy) to get our little bundle of joy. Thanks to you guys for making this such a great experience ?
Angela Newby

Allison “Biscuit” Chang
After our cat went to be with Jesus, our wonderful dog Pickles needed a new playmate. Our family was also not complete with this loss so we started watching the dogs at Dorothy O’Conner. I was thrilled to see Allison, a sweet little black puppy online. My kids and I went to meet her and we just knew she was going to be a perfect fit for our family. My daughter renamed her biscuit and she is loved by all of us, including her new sister Pickles. She gives us lots of love and kisses and we are just so grateful to Dorothy O’Conner for helping bring her into our lives.
Brooke Chang

Petunia
Well what can I say, there is really no words to describe Petunia! It would be almost a year that my family and I took a road trip to Victoria Texas to adopt her. Adopting her was was never a plan untill we saw her one night on the internet and we knew she was for us. Petunia has adjusted perfectly with my 3 kids. She is really lovable and cares for my family so much. We are glad to say she is the most wonderful dog we could ask for.
Thank you so much for letting us adopt Petunia, and may God bless the DOCPAC.

Grant and Shaggy (Update)
I’m a volunteer at DOCPAC. I was had my eye on Shaggy for some time there was something unique about him that he just seemed to need a home soon and Shelter Life wasn’t agreeing with him. Shaggy came from a home where he was never socialized with people so he needed special care so I was asked to Foster him. In less than I week I feel in love with Shaggy and adopted him.
A month later I was called again to Foster Grant who also was never socialized with people. My husband and I took on yet another challenge and it has been an amazing one. Both boy’s are comical to watch playing in the yard and swapping their toys. Grant bounces around the living room scattering dog beds and toys waiting for Shaggy and Brutus to get up in them morning and play.
They are both making steady progress and have become permanent members of our family along with our dog Brutus and two cats Sadie and Lacey. We can’t imagine thses two sweet and funny dogs living with anyone else. They are quite happy and content int heir new home and love to lie in their beds in front of a warm fire on cold winter nights.
Thanks DOCPAC for choosing us for Shaggy and Grant. We love them so much!
Tabitha & Gary

Grant and Shaggy
Grant and Shaggy came to our home after being returned from adoptions that didn’t work out. They were not adjusting well to Shelter life again so I was asked to take them home as Foster dogs.
I fell in love with both of them after one week. They both came form bad backgrounds and unsoiclzed with human they needed special care and wanted them to join our family. These two lively dogs are wonderful pets and so much fun to watch romping and playing in the yard with our older dog Brutus. They have brought alot of joy to him and to our family
